Get it? Only if you speak German.

Get it? Only if you speak German.

The Postbank, linked to Deutsche Post, has obviously worked out that it has non-native speakers of German using its ATMs (cashpoints). Especially at this time of year, there could be quite a lot of visitors to Germany thinking of withdrawing cash. So to help people who don’t speak German navigate their way through the machines, they now have a message on the welcome screen. Sadly, it’s only in German.

So run the logic past me on this one.

I need cash. I go to a Postbank cash point. I don’t understand a word as it’s all in German. I look for the option to switch languages. I see some strange message saying Sprachauswahl…

Fail.

A quick comparison to Telekom. I saw them on TV recently with advertising in Turkish. Don’t remember any intro or suggestion that this is about to be an ad in Turkish.

I found brochures in their outlets over a decade ago in Turkish. Again, no German on the brochure to introduce it.

Maybe they’ve understood something. I’d call it logic.
