Blended marketing


Don’t try this at home, folks!

You hear plenty about viral marketing. You used to hear a lot about guerilla marketing. But “Will it blend” has to be one of the best examples I’ve seen of a standard kitchen appliance brand capturing the imagination of internet users everywhere.

The idea is so simple it probably got rejected a few times before somebody thought, “Well why not?” You write to the company running the website and ask them to put something in their incredibly powerful food blender to see what will happen. And the internet community does write. Constantly. My favourite is the one with the iPhone being zapped. Just look how long the screen display keeps going!

The man doing the demo is deliberately old fashioned. The whole feel about the website is simple, no-frill kitchen appliances – that work. This is a cult idea, beautifully executed.
