If ever you needed a good reason for not going to the European finals in Austria and Switzerland, then this is it. Apparently the Germans have picked a slogan for the tournament – although this is not the official slogan – but it’s being slapped on t-shirts and is bound to be seen a lot this summer. It refers to the German’s 1954 World Cup victory in Bern, Switzerland. It’s the beginning of the best known radio coverage of all time (in Germany) – a minute before Rahn scored the decider in Bern 1954. (A bit like in England, 1966 “They think it’s all over…”)

What’s that? Wanker?!

It means something along the lines of “none waivers”. But oh dear, the word “wank” in English is, to put it mildly, extremely rude.

Maybe they knew this and are poking fun at the English? Who knows. But one thing I do know for certain – they need educating on English swear words. Cue the reactions from the English press… The Sun will love it!
